Case 1:
Field survey on a slope failure along National Highway 333 in the Hokuyo district of Kitami City in 2001

We conducted a field survey at the site of a slope failure that occurred in October 2001 in the Hokuyo district of Kitami City. The purposes were to observe the damage and to clarify the causes toward formulating recovery measures. We found that the site lies in the Tokoro geological belt and that the slope is gentler than any for which failure had been reported. We studied measures against such slope failure, including assessment of its risk.
